You are just starting to become an Event Planner or Wedding Planner- you are about to experience a lot of back to back events – It is not a daily party! - Treat everyone with respect and work as a team with your suppliers. There are obstacles and hiccups but any smile can motivate to find good solutions! You are in this together!
- Work out to stay mentally and physically in shape. I do love to push the flight cases to add some exercises into the onsite set-up. I do obstacle racing and endurance racing in my free time – pushing limits mentally and physically make me strong for onsite productions.
- Focus on priorities and to do’s
- Communication skills -be transparent with your client. Event planning is a service industry! Always treat everyone nicely and genuine. Anyone could be your client or recommend you to someone.
- Get it done attitude and hands on as well as incredible team works.
- Eat healthy, drink lots of water
- Relax in your downtime
- For the event site: pack extra clothing so you can refresh after set-up. Make-up fixate spray, filler cream, refresh your skin, drink lots of water
- Listen to motivating on your way in- and out music.
- Work hard and better get the things done prior – you never know how your next day might turn out!
- Make sure you have a well equipped tool box including a great first aid kit and little other items that you or your client might need
- Stay positive and solution orientated at all times.
- If you are not an expert, consult with your suppliers prior and adjust your concept accordingly
- Stay up to date with state-of-the art equipment and tools.
- Take notes during the event to improve your and your suppliers services and as well learn how to better assist your client by giving tips and improve prior briefings. The learning curve is endless.
- Set example at set-up and tear down and motivate the team.
- “A good waiter never walks empty handed”. Scan the room and foresee happenings, plan ahead well so you have time and are calm for the unforeseen.
